Legislation and Regulatory Framework

Dubco Ireland Credit Union operates in full compliance with the Credit Union Acts 1997–2012 and our own Registered Credit Union Rules, as approved by the Registrar of Credit Unions.

We are an independent, self-managed credit union that makes decisions in the best interests of our 17,800+ members, while aligning with all legal, financial, and regulatory obligations under Irish law.

Regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland

As a regulated entity, Dubco Ireland Credit Union reports directly to the Central Bank of Ireland through the Registrar of Credit Unions. We provide regular reports on:

  • Financial performance and reserves
  • Provisioning and write-offs
  • Lending and credit control policies
  • Risk and compliance procedures

We are fully compliant with all applicable legislation, including:

  • Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations
  • Data Protection (GDPR) requirements

Board of Directors – Member Elected & Accountable

The Board of Directors at Dubco Ireland is elected by members at our Annual General Meeting (AGM). This board is responsible for:

  • Strategic direction and policy oversight
  • Financial stewardship and governance
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance and ethical management

Each Director serves a term of up to three years and may seek re-election, subject to the maximum term limits as outlined in credit union legislation. Only members aged 18+ who meet the fitness and probity standards set by the Central Bank of Ireland are eligible for election.

Board Oversight Committee – Independent Monitoring

The Board Oversight Committee, also elected by members, is tasked with monitoring the performance of the Board of Directors. This committee ensures that the Board operates:

  • In accordance with credit union laws and regulations
  • In the best interests of members
  • Transparently and ethically

All members of the Board Oversight Committee must also be members of Dubco Ireland Credit Union.
